Hi Dunkan, I think that you should inform the flight attendant and the passengers next to you first. Don't provoke people - this product is still very new and does not need negative "first impressions". Have a good flight ... After the flight you can join the Smoke High Club: http://ecigarettes365.ning.com/group/smokehighclub

Security could determine the device a threat to the safety of the plane. Remember that we live in a day and age where you can not have a key fob, lighter, and even some writing pens are not allowed on a plane. forJAT

I know that Southwest Airlines doesn't allow e-cig use on the airplanes. We've flown quite a bit and never had a problem getting our e-cigs, liquids, chargers or equipment thru security

I am flying to DC next week and I will let you know how it goes. I have been using e-cigs for 1 month now and I enjoy them tremendously. I have heard however, that many people are not opposed to the second hand smoke, but are opposed to watching another person in the act of smoking. Are we really surprised in the era of Big Brother and the Nanny State?

Honestly, I wouldn't push your luck with airlines. With airports increasing their security measures and their policies, I would just say "be patient" and wait until you land. Believe me -- I know what it's like not being able to smoke because you're in a meeting or non-smoking area. It isn't fun! However, 2 hours of not smoking isn't going to kill ya . . .quite the contrary! LOL.
When you hop off the plane, then you can light up. While on the plane, chew some gum and twiddle your thumbs. That's what I do. . . although I wish I didn't have to in the first place. Being addicted stinks. ;P

The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) has, as of the date of this posting, is not listed the electronic cigarette on the list of items that cannot be used on a plane After a little bit of research, we have discovered that there are currently three airlines who have added the electronic cigarettes to their lists of unacceptable devices on planes. They all basically state that because the electronic cigarette looks so much like a real cigarette, they are worried that others might think someone is actually smoking and either freak out or start smoking a real cigarette themselves.

Well e-cigarettes are still very new, i tried vaping on public places and 6/10 of the time i get this judgemental look from everyone . If i were you i won't push my luck on the airplane coz you might get in trouble. But ofcourse you can always ask the flight attendant.
