I still go out for normal "smoke" breaks at work to e-smoke.
Today an older dude was asking me about it. I told him how it works and what the good things are. He didnt seem to be convinced and probably thought that I am crazy.

Other reactions I have gotten are more positive, usually from the younger folks: they like the idea, think it is a cool gadget and are curious to try it out ye they are skeptical.

How do you deal with friends and folks at work?

I never smoke in restaurants, bars, or other buildings. People's reactions are usually not positive and you get in trouble. Furthermore I like my breaks and don't enjoy answering questions all the time ...
From friends I get all kinds of reactions. I have converted one but others kinda keep making fun of me.

Smoking is the worst habit a person can have as it is not only affecting the person but also affecting people around. So smoking ban in public places should strictly be followed and offenders should be strictly dealt with. I can understand that this ban is harsh on smokers but even they need to understand that their habit is killing others. Best luck to all those who want to give up smoking.

Hello Glenjo,

I think you are missing the point here: electronic cigarettes are different. There is no second hand smoke, no tobacco, no tar!

Here is a good intro to ecigs: http://www.ecigarettes365.com/new

I have smoked my ecig at LAX airport, at an NBA game, in restaurants and bars, at the grocery store and many other places.
I am not hiding it and never had a problem. Curious people come up to me and ask. I always take the time to explain it to them and they are OK with it.

I notice you are a proponent of Chantix ... This is how great our FDA is:

The FDA informed healthcare professionals of reports of suicidal thoughts and aggressive and erratic behavior in patients who have taken Chantix, a smoking cessation product. There are also reports of patients experiencing drowsiness that affected their ability to drive or operate machinery. A preliminary assessment reveals that many of the cases reflect new-onset of depressed mood, suicidal ideation, and changes in emotion and behavior within days to weeks of initiating Chantix treatment.

The role of Chantix in these cases is not clear because smoking cessation, with or without treatment, is associated with nicotine withdrawal symptoms and has also been associated with the exacerbation of underlying psychiatric illness. However, not all patients described in the cases had preexisting psychiatric illness and not all had discontinued smoking. Patients taking this product should report behavior or mood changes to their doctor and use caution when driving or operating machinery until they know how quitting smoking with Chantix may affect them.

I haven't had any issues most places. I even smoke it in the waiting room of the local medical clinic. Most people are curious, but no trouble...except once.

My wife and I were in the mall and she was on a shopping spree...and I needed a cigarette...then I remembered, lucky me, I remembered my ecig. I pulled it out and started "smoking" when the mall security started hasseling me about it. Yes, I tried to explain and even dis-assembled it infront of them. But alas, they would not listen. Personally, I think they were just too proud to stand down after already hasseling me.

But there's my experience.

If you want to be free from regular cigarette smells, then use electronic cigarettes, it just emits fog like smoke so its odorless and won't harm anybody around you, even the user has less risk on health.

Smoking is a bed habit because it will be a very harmful of a our body thus we will try ignore a smoking in a people life. The tobacco industry is introducing modified tobacco products claiming to reduce smoking (potential reduced exposure products, preparation of materials). If preparations are perceived as safe, may facilitate smoking cessation and resumption of smokers who have quit.

It's not a perception of being safe, ecigs really are safe. And it's not the tobacco companies that have introduced this product. As a matter of face, big tobacco really hates this product because they fear it will cut into their profits.
