Side Effects of Quitting Smoking

When an individual stops using tobacco products or quits smoking it isn’t unusual to encounter withdrawal symptoms or side effects. The initial detoxification process begins within thirty minutes or the person’s last tobacco product use and takes up to ten days, subsiding after this period of time. Side effects from quitting smoking may become bothersome if the individual isn’t ready to recognize these symptoms as the body’s way of returning to normal body function. The most important fact to recall when quitting smoking and pondering which side effects may be encountered is simply, each person’s organs work differently and so side effects on the body will also vary from person to person.

The following list is offered to assist in identifying bodily changes during the detoxification period. These symptoms are the most frequently described side effects on the body relating to the cessation of smoking.

  • Commonly mood and emotions or mental stability are going to be the first side effects noticed when quitting smoking. An increase in irritability, fits of anger, feeling disorganized, depressed or an increased feeling of anxiousness may occur at any point. These feelings may come and go quickly or last a few minutes. It’s best to keep yourself occupied with small tasks or hobbies. Some individuals require anti-depressants or help from a Physician to help combat severe issues during this withdrawal period.
  • Lungs begin to clear the buildup of tar within twelve hours of smoking the last tobacco cigarette. It is common to begin coughing up brownish colored phlegm. It may have a thick consistency to begin with and over time will reduce in thickness, thus clearing the Lungs. Drinking plenty of fluids will assist in loosening and expelling residual tar. Within three days time it will become noticeably easier to breath, walking and physical activities are able to be completed without over exertion or feeling out of breath.
  • Colds and headaches may also be felt as side effects from quitting smoking. Your body is healing itself and trying to get rid of the toxic chemicals that have been built up. Stress on the body causes a depletion of Vitamins A, C and E. These Vitamins help to maintain good health and ward off illness, developing a cold is normal. However, if a high fever or severe pain is evident it’s time to visit a Physician or Emergency Center immediately.
  • Developing a dry cough without phlegm or a “smokers cough” is the next stage of Lung healing after the clearing of built up tar. Drinking herb tea with honey helps reduce this type of dry cough and sugar free lozenges will also aide in reducing the feeling of having to cough. This cough occurs from damage caused to the tiny fibrous hairs inside the trachea and bronchial tubes called Cilia they are damaged but will repair themselves over time and the dry cough will cease.
  • Immediate and rapid effects on the Metabolic System, the Metabolic System includes a complicated group of processes that break down foods and medicines, this causes reversible weight gain in some people whom quit smoking. Proteins, called enzymes are responsible for this breakdown.  The system involves multiple organs especially those of the Gastrointestinal Tract, again slowing the rate of food being metabolized and being pushed through the intestines, causing intermittent stomach cramps, slight pain and increased flatulence. The need to replace the hand mouth habit and the instant satisfaction received from smoking greatly increases possible weight gain.

Smoking and Your Teeth – Dental Problems Associated with Tobacco Use

Most individuals today know the use of traditional tobacco products is harmful to your health. The specific issues concerning tobacco use and any one person’s general well being may not be as clearly understood like some people may think.

The following is a factual list of information regarding dental issues associated with tobacco use, its purpose is to assist readers in educating and identify issues that may result from prolonged use of traditional tobacco products.

  • An increased risk of developing Oral Cancer, a mouth disease that spreads quickly and can be resilient to traditional mouth cancer treatments. Studies from the American Dental Association show that nearly 75% of people diagnosed with Oral Cancer are currently tobacco users or were tobacco users for a significant part of their life. Oral Cancer can be removed if caught in time, but may cost the individual part of their mouth or jaw leaving them permanently disfigured.
  • Slowed healing process after any type of oral surgery increasing the risk of an infection occurring that may enter the blood stream and produce a more severe health issue.
  • Accelerates damage to sensitive gum tissue causing receding gum lines which produces increased sensitivity to hot and cold food items while also speeding the rate of tooth decay.
  • A continued deposit of yellow and brown stains from tar residue left on teeth, that may become permanent or extremely difficult to remove without specialized dental procedures. A tooth whitening service costs a pretty penny and normally is not covered by most Health Insurance Companies.
  • Increased risk of developing Leukoplakia or white spots, patches inside the mouth that may turn in to cancer if not treated immediately. Usual treatment includes scrapping off the white patches from the soft tissue inside the mouth, removing affected areas and testing to rule out how progressive the issue has become.
  • Decreased sense of taste, hearing and smell. All three senses are connected through canals in the head. An issue with any one of these senses may come on slowly and advance over time with prolonged use of tobacco products.
  • Some chewing tobaccos have abrasives added to them that wear down on teeth, flattening teeth and wearing away at sensitive gum tissue or protective tooth enamel.
  • Halitosis or bad breath is a common side effect of tobacco use. The buildup of tar on and in between crevices of teeth is a superior breeding ground for bacteria. The smell of bad breath is the excrement of live bacteria.
  • A substantially greater risk of developing a gum disease called Periodontitis. This particular gum disease is one of the leading mouth diseases that will lead to tooth loss and increases the chance of developing Heart Disease, bacteria from the mouth builds up and enters the blood stream passing through the Heart and creating an infection.

How to Remove Cigarette Smell from Your Apartment

Removal of pungent cigarette odor from any apartment can be an over whelming process. It isn’t impossible though and in most circumstances may be completed in one weekend’s time or over the course of a few days. Keep in mind that removing cigarette smell in any living space depends on how severe the situation is, since cigarette smoke penetrates all soft material and leaves a sticky, yellow residue on everything else it comes in to contact with.

The following outline of cigarette smell removal suggestions have been proven to assist in creating a fresh smelling living space and acts as a guide if at any point cleaning becomes too stressful. If cleaning does become over whelming, walk away from the area for a few minutes or longer if needed and clear your mind. Return to the space when you feel calmer and able to continue detoxifying your surroundings, it may be helpful to ask friends or family for support and to lend an extra pair of hands if the cleaning scenario requires more work than just a few days’ time.

● Start with curtains, wall hangings or fabric items that may be easily washed. Wash items in hot water adding a half cup of White Vinegar during the washing cycle. White Vinegar will assist in removing sticky tar residue.

● Carpets may be cleaned using a rented steam cleaner or professionally cleaned. Specialized carpet cleaners are also available instead of steam cleaning, mix baking soda with any powdered carpet cleaner and allowing it to sit overnight, this will neutralize odors. If the scenario is severe it may be wise to remove the carpet completely and have a new one installed.

● Wood and linoleum flooring must be washed completely. Use a one gallon hot water solution:  ¼ cup White Vinegar, ¼ cup Washing Soda and ¼ cup of mild detergent. This mixture loosens built up cigarette tar, neutralizes cigarette smell and leaves a fresh smelling floor area. Change the water frequently, as soon as it looks dirty it should be changed and a fresh water solution created. Continue washing until the water remains clear or not as significantly dirty as the first bucket. If the floor is unsealed wood, repeat washing over the course of few days allowing the wood to completely dry in between washes. This will prevent warping or damage to the wood floor from excessive water exposure.

● Walls and ceilings need to be washed using mild detergent and White Vinegar. A simpler alternative to washing walls is to repaint. Still, a strong primer must be used if pre-washing walls is not an option. The strongest, shellac based primers are “Killz” and “Zinsser”.  These primers will seal out cigarette smell and are usually used in basements to remove or block mildew odor.

● Windows, picture frames and knick knacks need to be thoroughly washed. Just one item that hasn’t been cleaned can emanate a funky cigarette smell.

● Air Purifier and Ozone Machines significantly reduce and neutralize lingering cigarette odors in unreachable spaces and from furniture that has been subjected to prolonged cigarette smoke. In time cigarette smell will be noticeably reduced or may be eliminated completely. In addition, boiling fresh peels of Orange and Lemon also help to give an apartment a fresh smell.

How To Remove Cigarette Smell From Your Car

One of the most difficult smells to remove from a vehicle is the distinct odor of cigarettes. An important detail to remember when removing cigarette smell is that cigarettes release petroleum based tar solids that dissipate in to the air and then sink into just about every type of surface it touches leaving an odor behind and a slimy residue. Depending on how long a car has been subjected to cigarette smoke will be an important factor in how much cleaning will need to be done and if a combination of cleansing steps are necessary. The following suggestions will assist in removing cigarette smells from any car.

● Complete a thorough cleaning of the vehicle using specialized car cleaners. Vacuum upholstery, wash windows, damp wipe hard plastic or wood elements of the interior and have the heating and cooling systems duct work professionally cleaned.

● Sprinkle baking soda on upholstery and allow it to sit overnight then vacuum the following day. Baking soda absorbs and neutralizes odors; the longer it sits on the fabric the greater the absorbing of cigarette odors will be.

● Pour White Vinegar in containers and leave them in the car for as long as possible, it will absorb odors that linger in unreachable places. Vinegar may also be used to lightly wipe down the upholstery, windows and surfaces in a car. It cuts through cigarette residue easily and absorbs odors as its own scent dissipates within a few hours.

● An Ozone machine left in a vehicle for two consecutive evenings or 24 hours straight will neutralize foul cigarette odors while also killing any invisible mold spores. Mini ozone units that plug in to the cigarette lighter outlet are also an option.

● Charcoal is excellent odor absorber it hardly emanates a scent its self. Leave an opened bag of charcoal in the car each night before bed. Or make small odor absorbers by placing one piece of charcoal in an old, thin sock and place them under the front two seats.

● Professional Car Detailers use a strong cleaner to remove cigarette smell from any car. Car bombs called, “Auto Shocker Quick Release” is the most common product used. The air cleaner acts similar to the bombing of a home for bugs, only odors are removed.

● Completely wash the seats, side panels and rug with an upholstery shampoo and a bristled brush then use a wet vacuum to remove residual liquid. Take care not to use too much water or a mold issue could occur if the washed areas can’t dry thoroughly.

Now you have an odor free car and you should switch to electronic cigarettes which do not produce any odor! Read some electronic cigarette reviews to learn more about this smokeless option.

EverSmoke Electronic Cigarette Review

The first time I took a pull from the manual battery I blew out the largest cloud of vapor I have ever exhaled. Not only was I surprised, I was in shock for a moment.

EverSmokeMy EverSmoke review package arrived a few days ago. Just in time to help convince those of you who are thinking of purchasing a starter kit for yourself or someone else, for the rapidly approaching New Year. Usually, this is the most common time of year when traditional, tobacco smokers think about their habit, life style and health in general and start to realize just how much it effects themselves, close family members and personal relationships. Would you like to assure your New Year’s Resolution to save money, become healthier or quit smoking is locked in? If you have the desire to succeed this coming year and know you need to purchase an e-cigarette kit, but can’t quite make up your mind, continue reading.

All required start up accessories arrived securely in a well-padded EverSmoke box. A fresh, white color artistically decorated box with a green swirl on it. The box is on the smaller side and uses a magnetic closure, allowing for reuse or storage of the many accessories available for purchase, my favorite accessory being the lanyard. Have your e-cigarette close by at all times by wearing it around your neck. I also think the portable charging pack and car lighter adapter are awesome too. More items are available on EverSmokes website. The back of the box lists a toll free number to recycling your e-cigarette unit when the time comes to upgrade. Which shows EverSmoke is an environmentally conscience company, I’d like to think it’s important to think about the environment and what happens to items not in use anymore.

EverSmoke gives plenty of options when looking for perfect device to choose. It seems they give more options than most e-cigarette brands. Options available include longer batteries which last longer, three battery color choices, manual or automatic battery operation and six nicotine flavor choices. Flavor cartridges come in multiple nicotine strengths, including Zero nicotine. Not to mention all the flavor cartridges are made with a ceramic anti-drip system in place. No need to worry about any flavored juice dripping from the atomizer and wasting any portion of juice. EverSmoke has thought of everything to provide an authentic, vaporizing experience for their customers. While researching, I found EverSmoke’s price range for a starter kit is similar to most brands. Specifically, brands who also offer a similar orange crystal tip that glows with each vaporizing pull, which EverSmoke also includes on all of their batteries. Personally, I find the crystal tip to be a more elegant or sophisticated way of vaporizing, plus it looks awesome in a dimly lit space.

First, I charged the manual battery which boasts a larger puff of vapor, simply because it must be primed before each use. Priming means a tiny black button, located on the battery, must be pushed down for two seconds before and during each complete inhale and then released, upon cessation of your pull. The first time I took a pull from the manual battery I blew out the largest cloud of vapor I have ever exhaled. Not only was I surprised, I was in shock for a moment. I’m not exaggerating or making false accusations, I truly could not believe what type of thick, dense vapor had just been blown from my mouth. Not only once, but continuously with repeated use. In a moment I’ll explain why EverSmoke creates such large vapor clouds.

Lastly, I charged up the Automatic Battery, it’s simple to use and the most requested type of battery thus far. Simply screw your chosen nicotine cartridge on the battery and begin to inhale as usual. It takes about two pulls to prime any automatic battery before the vapor will become consistently thick. The automatic battery also provided the same type of consecutive, large vapor clouds. It seemed the exhaled vapor was a tiny bit less dense than the manual option; still it was a hardly noticeable difference.

I’m especially impressed with how both of the batteries feel.  In weight and width, both the longer battery and regular length feel comfortable, neither feel heavy or uncomfortable to hold. I also have to mention, the filters or atomizers are the same shade of most traditional cigarettes, a light brown. It seems that even the smallest details where thought of for the EverSmoke Brand.

It’s no coincidence that I’ve been continuously exhaling huge vapor clouds from my EverSmoke E-Cigarette. They are currently the only e-cigarette brand to use Vapor Max Technology, it’s exclusive to EverSmoke. Meaning you won’t find this type of vapor technology in any other e-cigarette. Vapor Max technology ensures each pull from your e-cigarette is the same as the first, meaning you will exhale the same large amount of vapor each and every time you take a pull from your EverSmoke e-cigarette.

In conclusion, I completely enjoyed my EverSmoke e-cigarette. Every detail of EverSmoke E-Cigarettes provided the highest quality of smoking any e-cigarette user would want to enjoy. In my opinion it’s the best brand you could choose for someone new to vaporizing too. The realistic points of this brand make it a superior choice as a beginner’s starter kit, as well as a welcomed realistic change for the veteran e-cigarette user.
