What are electronic cigarettes?

E-cigarettes are relatively new and have created a lot of interest and controversy. The battery operated devices allow users to inhale and exhale vapor with nicotine and flavor in the same way you would inhale and exhale smoke from a tobacco cigarette. Many consider electronic cigarettes as an alternative to smoking tobacco cigs.

Do e-cigarettes offer a realistic smoking experience?

Let's say you watch two people smoking from a few feet away. One is vaping an electronic cigarette with red LED and the other one is smoking a tobacco cigarette. You would not see a difference but you would smell the difference. Electronic cigarette vapor is free of odor.

Smoking an electronic cigarette is very similar to traditional smoking.

• E-cigs simulate the physical action of smoking.

Can I save money with e-cigarettes?

A pack of tobacco cigarettes cost you anywhere between $6 and $10 depending on where you live. The price of an electronic cigarette cartridge is anywhere between $1 and $3.50 and lasts about as long as 1 pack of cigarettes.

In the long term you can save money with the e-cigarette. However, initially you need to spend at least $30 for an electronic cigarette starter kit.

Can I quit with electronic cigarettes?

By switching to e cigarettes you quit smoking tobacco cigarettes but you continue to be addicted to nicotine. Over time you can lower the nicotine content in the cartridges and wean yourself off nicotine.

Are ecigs safe and are they healthier?
